URGENT - TIME SENSITIVE
Dear Natan,
As you are aware, a significant window of opportunity to secure my immediate release has just opened.
I refer to recent remarks by American Ambassador Daniel Kurtzer in a private conversation with a close contact of mine, and then subsequently in a telephone conversation with you.
When asked about me by one of my contacts, Mr. Kurtzer advised that Israel should formally make a request for my release at this time. The substance of this conversation was then reported to you by one of our activists. In his presence, I understand that you immediately contacted Mr. Kurtzer by telephone to verify, and that you got the same message from Kurtzer. As a rule, American diplomats are very disciplined. They do not speak without authorization or initiate renegade agendas, as some of our diplomats have been known to do. If Mr. Kurtzer's advice to Israel is to make a formal request for my release at this time, his counsel should be taken very seriously and acted upon without delay. This is a golden opportunity, Natan, that we must not miss!
Natan, it is urgent that the Prime Minister be informed at once that the American Ambassador advises that he make a formal request for my release at this time. The Prime Minister has at his disposal an historic petition calling for my release, signed by 112 members of Knesset, which has never been delivered to President Bush. Now is the time for the Prime Minister to use that petition to back his private and strong request to the President for my immediate release.
It is up to you, Natan, to ensure that the Prime Minister act immediately, before this window of opportunity closes.
Please be back in touch with us ASAP to apprise me of what specific steps you have taken, and to advise me of the Prime Minister's response.
I await your prompt reply.
Stay well.
Jonathan
